‘Correct the Map’ Resolution at the UN: Global Debate on Map Projections

For instance, on a Mercator map, Greenland may appear roughly equal in size to Africa, whereas in reality, Africa’s land area is approximately 30.4 million sq km compared to Greenland’s 2.2 million sq km.
Significance of the Equal Earth Projection
The Equal Earth Projection is an equal-area map projection designed to more accurately represent the actual relative areas of different regions of the Earth. According to reports, the 54 member nations of the African Union adopted it in February. It has become a key component of the #CorrectTheMap campaign.
