Dr. Annapurni Subramaniam is India's leading astrophysicist. His research mainly focuses on Stellar Population, Star Clusters and Galaxy Evolution. Presently she is the Director of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru and also the Additional Director of the Center for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru. His research has made important contributions to understanding the evolution of stars and the structure of nearby galaxies.
COSPAR Vikram Sarabhai Medal
This prestigious international award was established in 1990 in memory of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space programme. It is jointly provided by the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). As per the eligibility criteria, the candidate must have made major scientific contributions in the five years preceding the COSPAR Scientific Assembly in which the award is presented.
