India Adds 11 New Ports of Entry for e-Visa Holders

On August 10, 2026, the Government of India notified 11 new international ports of entry for foreign nationals holding e-Visas, comprising 9 land ports and 2 airports. The new entry points include Agartala, Darranga, Gede, Ghojadanga, Haridaspur, Jaigaon, Dawki, Moreh, Attari (Road), Bhopal, and Tirupati. This brings the total number of authorized ports of entry for e-Visas in India to 88—consisting of 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports. Following the new notification, there are now a total of 88 authorized international ports of entry for foreign nationals holding a valid Indian e-Visa. These comprise 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports. This expansion increases the geographical options available for entering India and facilitates smoother cross-border movement.

What is the Indian e-Visa?

The Indian e-Visa is a digital visa facility provided by the Government of India for foreign nationals, allowing eligible travelers to apply online and obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). India launched the e-Visa facility in 2014 for citizens of 43 countries and subsequently expanded it. According to the government, a large number of e-Visa applications are processed in less than 72 hours.
