Indigenous Diving Support Vessel ‘Nipun’ to Join Indian Navy
The Indian Navy will commission ‘Nipun’, the second Diving Support Vessel (DSV) of the Nistar class, at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on August 31, 2026. It has been indigenously designed and constructed by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam. ‘Nipun’ will provide significant support to the Navy in deep-sea diving, submerged operations, and underwater intervention operations. It is also equipped with submarine rescue support, modern navigation, station-keeping capabilities, and medical facilities.
