'Pink Saheli' Smart Card Mandatory for Free Bus Travel in Delhi Starting August 1
The Delhi government has announced that, effective August 1, 2026, free travel for women and transgender passengers on DTC and cluster buses will be available exclusively through the 'Pink Saheli' Smart Card. This card is linked to the 'One Nation, One Card' initiative and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) platform. Pink paper tickets will cease to be valid after July 31, 2026. The scheme applies to female and transgender residents of Delhi aged 12 years and above. Its objective is to promote digital verification, transparency, and inclusive digital governance in public transport.

Pink paper tickets will remain valid only until July 31, 2026.
Introduction to the Scheme
The 'Pink Saheli' Smart Card was launched by President Droupadi Murmu on March 2, 2026. The card is integrated with the 'One Nation, One Card' initiative and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) platform, thereby fostering a digital and unified payment system in public transport.
Eligibility and Application
Female and transgender residents of Delhi aged 12 years or older are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
A Delhi-based Aadhaar card and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar are required for the application.

Implementation and Budget
By May 18, 2026, over 8.40 lakh 'Pink Saheli' Smart Cards had been issued across Delhi through 73 centers. A provision of ₹450 crore has been made in the budget for the financial year 2026–27 for the scheme and its digital integration.
