Who became the first female officer from a non-medical cadre to attain a two-star rank?

Air Vice Marshal Shakti Sharma became the first female officer in the Indian Armed Forces from a non-medical cadre to attain a two-star rank and was appointed Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Education) effective September 1, 2026. She was commissioned into the Education Branch of the Indian Air Force in 1994 and has served in roles such as the IAF Chair of Excellence at IIT Kanpur and Pune University, and as the first female Principal of Sainik School, Kapurthala.
